Description: Responsible for managing software engineers tasked with developing TCP/IP software for Intel processor based systems. Sets goals and is responsible for the hiring, training, salary planning, direct supervision of software engineers, budgeting, product planning and project scheduling. Also manages projects that are being accomplished by contractors at remote development sites. Additionally, may organize the creation of functional specifications, work breakdown structures, project plans, design specifications, implementation processes and software qualification strategies.

  • Experience in developing software in a Unix system software or network software development environment
  • Experience showing self-motivation, and commitment
  • Ability to provide direct, individual management or supervision to a software engineering team
  • Experience developing or managing the development of TCP/IP software
  • Experience in developing software in a Unix system software or network software development environment

  • Interacts with multiple levels of management. Escalates issues when appropriate. Builds strong working relationships with peers in functional organizations. Determines and pursues course of action necessary to obtain desired results: defines major new procedures, where necessary. Works with other functional managers to determined long-range goals.

  • Ability to apply above average communication and interpersonal skills in interactions with other engineers, and other personnel, including those responsible for pre-sales and post-sales support.
  • Knowledge of the architecture of TCP/IP protocols, including TCP, IP, UDP, ARP, RARP, DHCP, RIP, OSPF, IGMP and ICMP
  • Knowledge of the architecture of TCP/IP applications and utilities, including sendmail, SNMP, FTP, telnet, DNS, NTP, IPsec, and IPv6.
  • Requires a B.S. EE/CS degree or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years related experience. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
