Description: Responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing complex computer systems. Works with System Administrators, System Analysts, Application Programmers, C-Byte and/or vendor design engineers to understand and define system problems. Confers with C-Byte manufacturing, design engineering representatives and other resources to determine root cause of obscure failures. Researches hardware/ software and system functional specifications. Designs test configurations that allow the duplication of problems at HQ. Recreates, documents and verifies design reliability and run time problems for design engineering. Develops and recommends solutions to system problems. Performs or coordinates on-site and/or remote software/hardware upgrades and/or installations. Responds to worldwide requests for product, operational, configuration and design specific information. Recognizes and responds to critical customer situations. Compiles and communicates trend analyses on field failures. Writes and updates work instructions, technical bulletins and technical notes. Prepares for the introduction of new products. Participates on C-Byte product development teams to improve product quality and serviceability. Serves as a technical resource for C-Byte functions.

Essential Job Functions include working with system administrators, system analysts, application programmers, C-Byte and/or vendor design engineers to understand and define system problems. Confers with C-Byte manufacturing, design engineering representatives and other resources to determine root cause of obscure failures. Researches hardware/software and system functional specifications. Designs test configurations that allow the duplication of problems at headquarters. Develops and recommends solutions to system problems. Performs or coordinates on-site and/or remote software/hardware upgrades and/or installations. Recognizes and responds to critical customer situations. Writes and updates work orders, work instructions, mailbugs, process documents, and technical notes. Prepares for the introduction of new products. Provides input to C-Byte product development teams to improve product quality and serviceability.

Basic Electrical Theory, ESD Skills, troubleshooting, computer knowledge, networking knowledge, basic UNIX, basic PC knowledge, customer relations skills, communication skills (verbal, written, listening), phone skills, time management skills, interpersonal skills, escalation skills, linux skills, system administration skills, C-Byte product knowledge, C-Byte corporation knowledge. Experience developing and/or supporting large system backup/restore solutions a definite plus.
