Making a defference...

Kids on the Block Awareness ProgramKids on the Block
Awareness Program presents more than 100 educational puppet performances designed to help elementary school children choose to stay out of gangs. Presentations include a puppet show “Alternatives to Violence and Gang Membership” followed by a question and answer time when trained volunteers answer children’s questions about staying out of gangs.

Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) has recruited, trained and provided support services to over 494 volunteers who advocated on behalf of abused and neglected children. CASA volunteers become involved in each child’s life. They recommend to the juvenile court judge what is best for each child. They hold people—parents, caseworkers, lawyers and judges—accountable for their decisions. Through the work of these citizen volunteers, CASA prevents children from getting lost in the juvenile justice system.

United Way, “More Choices for You, More Help for Those Who Need It.” The United Way supports more than 170 health and human service programs. These programs respond to specific community needs identified by local volunteers, people just like you. The United Way also funds programs at many lesser-known agencies, enabling them to fill more requests for assistance from their clients.
