The Arts

Calgary Youth Philharmonic maintains the finest possible resident youth orchestra in order to inspire, train and educate young people in performance and appreciation of symphonic music. The Foundation annually sponsors their “Concert at Christmas” and provides funding for the Philharmonic’s innovative new outreach program to children who may never have heard or seen a symphony orchestra, let alone one made up of their peers.

Young AudiencesYoung Audiences programs help provide arts to schools that are losing arts programs and have no other way to replace them. Through Young Audiences’ performances, workshops and intensive arts programs, students will learn history, math, science, geography, reading and many other important subjects.

Alberta Ballet Theatre Creative Movement Outreach Program focuses on children who face emotional, physical and social challenges by attracting withdrawn children into group activities. To date, 26 schools and child development centers have been sites for this program and over 8,500 children have enjoyed free ABT performances through their annual “Magic of Dance” series and “Nutcracker” Special Needs Matinee.
